Our Mission

The Goodwin Holocaust Museum and Education Center’s (GHMEC) mission is to learn from the past and educate for the future.  Through the lessons of the Holocaust, we at the GHMEC work to reduce prejudice and affect attitudes to lessen hatred, bigotry, and violence against all groups.

 

The Museum is the only permanent Holocaust Exhibit in the Tri-state area.

 

We Educate
w 20,000 people from community organizations, public, private, charter, and parochial schools 
are reached by GHMEC speakers each year
w 35,000 students have seen performances of “Dear Esther” and “The Town That Fought Hate” through our Center

 

We train teachers
w
Accredited workshops and visits to the USHMM are offered to teachers to fulfill the NJ Mandate to teach the Holocaust
 

We support the community
w
Community wide commemoration programs for Yom Hashoah (Holocaust Remembrance) and Kristallnacht (Night of Broken Glass) are held annually
w
Speakers’ Bureau of Holocaust survivors, children of survivors, concentration camp liberators and educators speak to schools, service organizations and at community events
