SECOND GENERATION
As a group, the second generation is vital to the HEC. It is their commitment
to continuing the tradition of relating first person recollections that will
insure that the lessons of the Holocaust are not forgotten. This committee also
promotes a fellowship between members of the 2nd generation and provides activities
that are of interest to the group. Their financial support for the programs
of the HEC honors the memories of their relatives and allows the HEC to continue
its programming.
MEMBERSHIP
Without members, we are lost. Our membership committee works to find people
interested in supporting and participating in our organization. We welcome all
faiths and nationalities.
FUNDRAISING
Raising funds to perpetuate the work we do is central to our existence. It is
our responsibility to always remember and to educate the public about the dangers
of hatred and bigotry. And these mandates require funding. Please help us acquire
the resources we need to continue our critical work in making the world a safer
place for our children and grandchildren.
PROGRAMMING
Members of the Programming Committee take a hands on role in planning and executing
community programs for the HEC. These programs range from getting popular authors
to speak about their works to panel discussions on intolerance and prejudice
in today’s society. These programs help educate everyone from high school
students to adults, both Jewish and non-Jewish. Joining this committee is truly
a mitzvah (blessing) for all concerned.
GOODWIN HOLOCAUST MUSEUM
The Museum Committee is responsible for the maintenance and promotion of the
Holocaust Museum. This involves caring for the physical plant, changing and
improving the displays whenever possible and screening artifacts for display.
We also promote and advertise the Museum to increase traffic and membership.
YOM HASHOAH COMMITTEE
This committee plans and executes the annual Yom Hashoah commemoration for Cherry
Hill and the surrounding communities. The event remembers Holocaust victims
and honors the survivors with a guest speaker who is also a survivor of the
Holocaust. There is a special recognition of survivors living in our community.
Hundreds of persons throughout the area attend as our commemoration is recognized
as one of the most effective and moving presentations of the HEC.
