The
mission of the Holocaust Education Center (HEC) of the Delaware Valley is
to learn from the past and educate for the future through the lessons of the
Holocaust to reduce prejudice and to lessen hatred, bigotry and violence against
all groups.
The HEC supports the following programs and events:
- The Goodwin Holocaust Museum which offers the largest permanent exhibit
in the tri-state area
- A Speakers’ Bureau of Holocaust survivors, children of survivors,
liberators and educators who will speak free of charge for schools, service
organizations and community events
- An extensive Holocaust reference and lending library with multimedia resource
- Educational programs, events and materials including lectures, seminars,
photographic and art displays
- Teacher workshops that are accredited to fulfill the mandate to teach the
Holocaust instituted by the New Jersey Department of Education
- Scholarships for teachers and students to study the Holocaust
- Annual, community wide Yom Hashoah (Holocaust Remembrance) Commemoration
program
- Holocaust Memorial in Cooper River Park and at the Katz Jewish Community
Center in Cherry Hill, New Jersey
The
HEC is a department of the Jewish Community Relations Council, an agency of
the Jewish Federaton of Southern New Jersey. The HEC is self supported and all
of its activities are funded through memberships, donations and special events.
All members of the HEC are volunteers. Please access the appropriate site areas
for more information about specific events and programs, the Goodwin Holocaust
Museum, endowment funds, the Educational Program, committees and membership.
We seek the support of persons interested in perpetuating the lessons of the
Holocaust to ensure it never happens again. You may join us by becoming a member,
by participating in our events and attending our programs and by making a donation.
All monies raised are used to sponsor programs or provide scholarship funds.
